At 79, Fran has lived with disability caused by multiple sclerosis for 44 years. Her interests include her dogs, getting outdoors and singing with Coughton Community Choir.
When she first contacted us, she had used rollators and scooters for more than 30 years. She relied on rollators to move around, but was finding it harder to support herself.
"Now finding my arms and hands struggling to hold me upright at times," she explained.
Fran wanted to try LifeGlider before buying. Ewan visited with one for her to use, and she soon shared videos with her Disabled Ramblers and Corgi Club communities, with her dog Todd following along.
She was honest about the effort involved. After her first try, she reported feeling exhausted and described using muscles she felt had not been active for a long time. When a loan LifeGlider arrived, she had the height adjusted and planned to take things slowly.
But she already had somewhere she wanted to go with it: choir.
With Christmas performances approaching, Fran asked whether she could have a LifeGlider early so she could surprise her fellow singers. Her choir's plans included a performance raising funds for local volunteer First Responders.
Then came the Christmas party.
Fran sent a video of herself dancing with LifeGlider, accompanied by a message that says more than we could:
"Dancing the night away...where is the OFF SWITCH on my LifeGlider."
When Ewan asked whether she was enjoying using it and the freedom to move, her answer was simple:
"Absolutely!"
